Stop at these spots on your way to the Barclays Center, Luna Park, the New York Aquarium, and more fun attractions in Brooklyn, NYC, and your experience will be even better.
From air conditioning to Nathan’s hot dogs to Ruth Bader Ginsburg, some of the coolest staples of modern culture were born and bred in Brooklyn, NY. Today, this New York City borough continues its tradition of bringing great things to the world in the form of a slew of stellar legal recreational dispensaries. Among them, you’ll find a 4,000-square-foot lifestyle-store-cum-dispensary that feels like a grown-up Urban Outfitters, a microbusiness with its own line of cannabis products, and a lot more. But how do you know which so-called dispensaries are legit and which to avoid?
Illegal dispensaries often disguise themselves as smoke shops or convenience stores, so here’s a good rule of thumb: If you can buy a Snapple, you don’t want to buy your cannabis there. Legal dispensaries scan your ID before you’re allowed to get near the good stuff. Each item is labeled with a QR code that you can scan for detailed information about the origin and manufacturing of what you’re getting. Everything you buy comes in childproof packaging, ensuring both safety and quality control.

The list below includes our favorite legal recreational cannabis dispensaries in Brooklyn. Whether you’re looking for a fun vape to smoke as you explore on your own, a six-pack of seltzers for a day at the beach, or a preroll on your way back to the hotel after a night out on the town, you’ll find it all and more in Brooklyn. Of course, if you’d rather sit on the couch and veg, many of these dispensaries offer delivery right to your home or hotel, too.

Gotham

Housed in the former Domino Sugar factory on the Williamsburg waterfront, Gotham is so much more than a dispensary. In addition to top-shelf cannabis products, the lifestyle shop has walls lined with a curated selection of games, skincare, candles, clothes, books, glass pipes, and more available for purchase. And the trademark Gotham tree sculpture in the middle of the store is a total photo opp.
Grams

Aside from loving the wordplay of Grams on Graham Avenue, we are big fans of the vibe in this Williamsburg dispensary. From the moment you walk through the door, the atmosphere is warm, friendly, and accommodating. You can grab a seat while the person you’re with shops, browse a magazine while you wait for the edibles to kick in, or check out the art on the wall after smoking your flower outside. It’s also a microbusiness, which means you’ll see Grams’ own line of flower, pre-rolls, vapes, and edibles among the rest of the robust inventory.
RNR Dispensary

RNR Dispensary in Bushwick embraces the vibrant urban energy of the surrounding neighborhood, with exposed brick walls, graffiti-style decor, and a hard-to-miss mural outside pointing stoners in the right direction. Inside, when you’re standing near the far wall of cubbies, the number of empty spots might make you think that the selection needs to be restocked, but step back a bit further, and you’ll see that the products are actually arranged to look like words and numbers—pretty cool, huh?
Hii NYC
152 Bedford Ave., Williamsburg

Set in a slim storefront near the Bedford Avenue subway stop, Hii NYC isn’t much to look at from the outside, but it doesn’t have to be. The dispensary, which also has a location in Mill Basin, occupies a coveted spot in the heart of Williamsburg’s trendy shopping and dining district. The cannabis selection focuses on micro-brands that you won’t find in just any dispensary you walk into, though you’ll also find popular names if you have a favorite go-to product. And if you’re looking for a late-night fix, Hii is open until 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday, and midnight every other day.
Kaya Bliss

Started by two longtime friends and local Brooklynites, Kaya Bliss aims to make the dispensary experience approachable and unintimidating. The selection here is massive, with more than 2,000 different products in inventory, and the budtenders are highly trained at matching customers with the right cannabis solutions. Kaya also operates a store in Brooklyn Heights, with Kensington and Brighton Beach locations in the works. Check the dispensary’s calendar online to see what events they’re hosting while you’re in town.
Flower Daddy
539 Metropolitan Ave., Williamsburg

Flower Daddy is the newest spot on this list, but the open-minded environment makes it an easy addition. The business refers to itself as a gay dispensary, with an inventory that’s heavy on LGBTQ+ brands and lots of in-store events for the community. It also doubles as a plant shop, with verdant potted flora on display and available for purchase.
